Maj. Alan Zwick, flying 1081 broke a world record that has stood for 19-years on Dec. 12, 1998, when he flew his U-2 and payload to an altitude of more than 12 and a half miles above the Earth's surface. Shattering the record by about 38,287 feet. Of course U-2s break this 19 year old record every day!
